Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Who said that?

I can’t recall and I don’t have the energy to google it, but I’m sure someone will. That’s a simple yet profound statement. Coming off a few days of dreary and rainy weather that had me under the weather, and creating poetry along the lines of rain rain go away….I do not like this dreary day, and other profound and remarkable lyrics I now wake up to another rainy day. The rainy weather puts me in a deep thought writer’s mood. I am reminded though, of how we are not to be infants tossed back and forth in the wind, changing with every random thought or emotion or environment. We are to be unchanging, regardless of the circumstances or environment around us! Today is the first day of the rest of your life, everyday, regardless of the weather. We have only this moment, this breath.

Yet, my attitude is slightly sunnier. Monday, there’s hope for a break in the clouds with a lot of sunshine. Sunday, the sun might just peek through, but that’s merely a promise, not a certainty. Today, is saturday. The first day of the rest of your life. What will you do with it? Days like this remind me that even in the rainy season, we have to get up, put on our rain boots and slickers, and get out and face the world.
