Category: The Homeless
This is a photo from our writers workshop in downtown Dallas. This is a chance to get people who are living on the street to find a voice to talk about their past, future, and the wounds that led them to the point they are in life right now. Some of the writers are working on great books about their lives.
Writing was a great way for me to work through life’s challenges, and I still have journals from when I was a child. I used a poem from one of them for a book and it was read by Geraldo, when he interviewed me. Strange to think that your eleven year old poetry will be read on National television when you’re an adult, but I’ve found that some of the greatest words are in the minds of the youth, the homeless, or those in the last days of their life.
All we have to do is listen.
